Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Fortrum is the trusted independent advisor of top tier financial organisations. Fortrum is based in the Netherlands and UK. You will join a growing and ambitious company and work together with experienced colleagues on assignments in the Netherlands for domestic and international companies.

Your role at Fortrum

  • Board member:
    As a Board member:
    – Determine Fortrum’s Vision, Mission and Strategy;
    – Set and evaluate strategy, plans, business processes and business and financial goals;
    – Monitor, evaluate and manage business, financial and other risks.
  • Executive management:
    – You will be a member of the executive management team and Chair of the NL
  • Operational management team:
    – Responsible for such ongoing or ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities as assigned to ensure the effective day to day management and operation of the company.
  • Team:
    – Manage, develop, train and recruit the teams therefore enabling the team to work at their full potential. Moreover, implement and oversee efficient capacity planning to ensure optimal use of resource;
    – Establish and maintain effective processes to ensure the consistency of the high service levels for which Fortrum is renowned.
    – Engage with clients on ‘problem files’ and service issues
    – Focus on the use and development of our Fortapp system to ensure optimal efficiency and service delivery;
    – Support the MD UK in delivery of our services in the United Kingdom.

  • Operations:
    -Identify and implement opportunities for improvement of cost effectiveness whilst monitoring and controlling the costs of core DD & Consultancy operations;
    – Safeguard consistent quality of services and deliverables;
    – Set and monitor operational effectiveness targets and measures and report to Board;
    – Ensure adherence to all company compliance requirements by DD and Consultancy teams.
  • Human Resource:
    In liaison with the Office Manager, implement and enhance effective HR policies;
    – Manage training and personal development infrastructure to enable staff to maximise potential, progress and enjoy productive careers with the company;
    – Maintain a positive, collaborative team focused working environment.

Who you are

You are an excellent communicator and relationship builder with a keen interest for coaching people at all levels of the organisation. You bring a humble personality with a growth mindset and passion for making service driven processes better every day. You are very self-aware and result orientated.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic professional, ideally with a background in finance or a related field. Our COO will be characterized as an inspirational leader, effective at both a strategic & operational level. Someone who has excellent communication, analytical and people skills and who can motivate & create a productive environment.

Skills we are looking for

• Dutch and English at a business level – Speaking & Writing;
• Higher professional education or University level;
• Microsoft Office expertise (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI);
• Senior operations, process and project management experience;
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience;
• In possession of Mortgage certificate(s) (ideal but not essential).
